What is it?

Holistic Clinical Aromatherapy is defined as the controlled use of essential oils to maintain good health and revitalise the body, mind and spirit.

Following application to the body, usually in a carrier oil in the form of a massage, although inhalations, compresses and baths may also be used, Essential Oils are absorbed through the skin and distributed around the body via the blood stream.  The aroma of the oils stimulates the limbic region of the brain where subconscious processing takes place.  It controls our primitive urges, emotions, memory and instinct.

Essential Oils can help to reduce stresses and strains and promote a sense of well being.

Therapeutic Massage

The therapeutic benefits of essential oils are greatly enhanced by massage application that is more than just a superficial effleurage of the skin.

Therapeutic massage practice encompasses elements drawn from styles that include “Swedish” and “Holistic”.

The central aims of therapeutic massage are to sooth tension, promote blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, improve muscular tone and enhance nervous conductivity.

Acupressure Massage

Acupressure Massage incorporates the hands-on stimulation of the body’s Meridian system – the same network of channels used in Acupuncture.  When combined with Aromatherapy, it becomes Aromatic Acupressure and refers to the application of specific essential oils to the Organ Meridians and Acupoints of Oriental Medicine.
